Moral values from the short Story Sinigang

Moral Values from the story "SINIGANG" and its impact to me as a 21st Century learner

One of the reason why the author wrote the story is because he/she wants to share a message or moral values that is supposed to teach us how to be a better person in real life. The short story " Sinigang" by Marie Aubrey taught me a lot of values that I can apply in my daily life particularly about family matters.

HELPING PEOPLE
Giving of your time or energy to help others not only makes the world a better place, but it also makes you a better person. Helping others improves social interaction.

HONESTY
Self-respect necessitates being truthful with ourselves. Thus, we fulfill a moral requirement to respect ourselves when we are honest with ourselves. We can see in the story that Sylvia is so honest to tell Liza about family matters and her mistakes.

FORGIVENESS
Everyone makes mistakes. Empathy, compassion, kindness, and understanding are all necessary qualities for forgiveness.

 LOYALTY
Staying faithful in a relationship is the definition of loyalty. Not simply avoiding temptation (though that is important), but also maintaining all of your promises, keeping your word, carrying out your plans, and sticking with your spouse until the finish. Loyalty is knowing that you can count on each other.

Its impact to me as a 21st Century learner

As a 21st Century learner, we learn through reading. By the short story of "Sinigang", There are many moral values which we can apply in our daily life. I learned that making mistakes allows us to learn what we value, what we like, what we don't want, and what we don't need. When we shift our mindset, it allows us to understand that there are actually no mistakes, only lessons and learning opportunities. We should learn to forgive also.
Family is the single most important influence in a child's life. From their first moments of life, children depend on parents and family to protect them and provide for their needs. It’s sad to imagine that this kind of issue in family happens in real life too. It's not easy. That is why I am still grateful because somehow I was blessed with a good and loving family.
